Hot on the heels of Slow Boat's yet to surface taproom in Dengshikou, Dongcheng craft beer fans have another reason to get excited with the news that Jing-A is set to open a sleek new taproom northwest of Dongsi subway station.

Jing-A announced the forthcoming venue in a press release today, saying that construction has already kicked off in a brand spanking new compound “nestled within” the Dongsi area’s hutongs. They also released an architect's rendering of the soon-to-be-completed venue (pictured above), along with a photo of the current construction site (below).

"If the design seems like a callback of our taproom in 1949, that's no accident," the Jing-A crew states in the press release. "Fans of our old spot can expect the same great vibes along with several upgrades."

Among those upgrades: a bigger kitchen, more seating, and "plenty more taps to pour our beers."
For now, the craft brewers haven’t finalized the total number of taps, or confirmed an opening date for the Dongsi taproom. However, they say the new spot will launch later this summer, perhaps as late as August.
The new taproom is set to open late this summer
Announcement of the new venue comes almost a year after Jing-A was forced to close their beloved 1949 location in Sanlitun on account of unsuccessful lease negotiations. Fortunately, they were able to regroup at their Xingfucun branch which they had taken over from long-term collaborators The Big Smoke the year prior.
The warm ambiance of their now closed 1949 taproom made it a favorite for after-work mingling
It's shaping up to be a big year for Jing-A, who made headlines recently with news that Danish lager giant Carlsberg had made a minority investment in the Beijing craft beer brand. They also brought home eight prizes at the recent 2019 Australian International Beer Awards.
